I used to like the Alone in the Dark series, but this edition looks and feels like Wes Craven **** into a box fan and made a game of it. As someone who tries to find the best in most negative releases, this game feels like a 2002 game with ambition kicked to the curb.

Good concepts are fine, but if you cannot back those up with solid gameplay, then unfortunately it is always going to be a lost cause.

Alone in the Dark: Illumination is ugly in every sense of the word, not just visually – though it is about as attractive as an anus in an eye socket. Hideous both inside and out, it’s the consummate fraud that hides behind a recognizable name to deliver interactive poison.
